GEORGE E. BLAKE

George E. Blake (b. Yorkshire, England, 1775; d. Philadelphia, Pa., 14 Feb. 1871) was an instrument maker, a music dealer, arranger, engraver, and the most prolific music publisher of his time. He emigrated to Philadelphia in 1793. He was especially active from 1803 on, issuing secular pieces, both in sheet music form and in collections.
