ELIAKIM DOOLITTLE

Eliakim Doolittle (b. Cheshire, Conn., 29 Aug. 1772; d. Argyle, N.Y., April 1850) was a composer, schoolmaster, and singing school teacher, and a brother of Amos Doolittle. He attended Yale but did not graduate, moved to Hampton, New York, where he married in 1811. He became mentally unbalanced in his later years, which were spent mostly in Pawlet, Vermont. He was a Congregationalist.
