ABNER ELLIS
Abner Ellis (b. Dedham, Mass., 4 Jan. 1770; d. there, 14 Dec. 1844) was a composer, singing master, schoolteacher, and a member of the Massachusetts legislature in 1814-17 and 1823. He joined the Stoughton Musical Society in 1803. Ellis apparently spent most of his life around Dedham where he owned a sawmill in 1816 and kept a tavern, probably for many years.
