Past work includes:
dissertation project (Newcastle University, 2010), “Joseph Nicholds of Coseley (c.1785-1860): A study of his life, times, and music, with an edited selection of his compositions.”
typesetting work for the late Charlie Lennon, on his two orchestral pieces “Island Wedding” and “Famine Suite”.
Recently involved with:
creating a new edition of Ingalls’ 1805 Christian Harmony in shape notes.
Current projects:
Researching and gathering old and contemporary carols and Christmas music from the English Midlands, with the aim of publishing a collection of Carols from the wider Black Country and Birmingham.
Collaboration with Keillor Mose and other composers, for a shape note tunebook consisting of new compositions in the style of the Sacred Harp.
Making an edition of Shaker hymn tunes transcribed into shape notes.
Collaboration with Allison Blake Steel, Clara Potter-Sweet and other composers, for a shape note tunebook consisting of compositions with texts taken from tombstone inscriptions.
Volunteer librarian at imslp.org - contributing to aspects of the general upkeep of the site, uploading scans of musical works from other library digitization programmes, in addition to my own editions and transcriptions.
