LESSONS EXPLAINING THE CHARACTERS IN MUSIC, 1788-94
The only copies located are bound into A Selection of Sacred Harmony (Philadelphia, 1788, 1789; q.v., Nos. 457, 458) as an introduction to that work. However, the imprint of the Lessons shows that it appeared in 1788 as a separate item. In content, the Lessons is virtually identical with the Uranian Instructions (Philadelphia, 1787; q.v., No. 503). The 1794 issue described below also survives only as an introduction to a tunebook: Stammers, The Philadelphia Chorister (Philadelphia, 1803; q.v., No. 474).
