JOHN RHEA
John Rhea (fl. Alexandria, Va., ca. 1792-94) was a singing master. A John Rhea (b. Augusta Co., Va., 1760; married ca. 1785 to Mary de Loach) is mentioned in a Rhea family genealogy as the son of Archibald Rhea II (ca. 1720-74), but not enough information is given there to determine whether he is the musical Rhea. Andrew Law found Rhea a rival when he taught singing in Alexandria (1792). Rhea corresponded with Timothy Swan in 1793-94.
