D. RUSS

D. Russ (fl. Carlisle, Pa., ca. 1791) was a composer. The Carlisle Gazette, 3 Aug. 1791, advertised Russ's The Uranian Harmony as 'now in the press' of the Philadelphia printer, John M'Culloch. Holden's The Union Harmony, I (1793), The Village Harmony, 3d ed., and Little and Smith's The Easy Instructor all attribute tunes to Russ.
