DANIEL WILLARD

Daniel Willard (fl. Connecticut, ca. 1790-98) was a composer and engraver. He collaborated with Joel Allen in engraving Griswold & Skinner's Connecticut Harmony, and he also engraved part of Sacred Harmony, which he and Thomas Lee Jr. published. A Daniel Willard (b. Wethersfield, Conn., 7 April 1753; d. there 16 Jan. 1817) was a deacon of a Wethersfield church, and the Connecticut census of 1790 lists two Daniel Willards (one Jr.) in Wethersfield. A Daniel Willard also served in the Revolution, and a Daniel Willard, Jr., of Wethersfield subscribed to Jenks's The Delights of Harmony (1805). It is likely that the Willard of Wethersfield was Willard the musician.
